Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. The traits she displayed were normal to a person born in Ireland. by talented parents and a loving family. Maureen entered this loving haven located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports as a kid and excelled at sports. This passion was combined with an equally natural talent to perform. It was evident when she was awarded each Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to offer. At the age of 14, she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater and operatic singing.
